"It takes COURAGE to begin, DRIVE to keep going, and a strong WILL to reach a destination"
I am a wanderer and just like you, my journey all started with a simple dream. I was inspired by many people whom I came across while reaching my goals so I hope by sharing my story, you can also get something from it.
I created this site as a compilation of my travels and experiences. It is dedicated to all my loved ones, who despite their strong opposition, supported my crazy dreams and decisions in life that made it all happen.
Everyone has their reason why they travel. For me, I like to travel because it gives me freedom. I respect culture but I also question the norms. From the moment we were born, we were given nationality, religion, and race. We follow the same culture and traditions of the people who lived thousands of years before us. We are bounded by the rules the society has pre-designed for us - getting a degree, finding a stable source of income that usually involves routine jobs, then building our own family. Traveling makes me forget all those expectations of who and what we should be. It frees me from all the worries and just makes me live the moment. It makes me enjoy the time that quickly passes by and the simple things around us that we often tend to ignore. I realized that sometimes it is only us who complicate life that jeopardize our own happiness.
I started traveling by looking at the map and randomly pin pointing where I feel like going. I knew where I wanted to go but I didn't know how to reach those places though. I read as little as I could about the places I'd like to visit because I wanted to be surprised and to have my first-hand impression on certain things. I wasn't nervous for the new adventure, instead I'm filled with excitement knowing that I would be going to the unknown. It wasn't easy. My weak passport that requires visa almost everywhere made traveling almost impossible! Also traveling alone is not part of our culture so I always ended up with long discussions with my family before they let me go. But despite all those barriers and with my limited resources, I didn't stop.
I packed my bags and disappeared from the flow. They say I could be too much of a risk taker but I couldn't take living forever within my comfort zone. The world is huge and there's so much to discover! I don't think I would have the time to see everything before my time ends, but at least I could say that I tried seeing as much as I could while I had the opportunity to do so. I backpacked in South East Asia where I found family in strangers and home in unfamiliar places that inspired me to travel more. It was also while I am away from home that I met my special someone who turned to be my best travel buddy. Two people from different countries with different backgrounds meeting in a foreign country, ending up living their similar goals. That's what you get when you stopped planning so much about tomorrow - SURPRISES! And yes, this universe has full of surprises that you'll only get to see if you try and don't give up!
Many of us fail to do things we want because of fear. Fearing the unknown is the biggest battle we can face against ourselves. Time is too short to live it with so many 'what ifs' and regrets. Sometimes you just have to stop all the hesitations and simply go for it! If you fail, who cares? It doesn't make you less of a person! Stand up and try again even if it means back to square one. That's how we learn after all - by trying, failing, trying again and again, until we finally do it. The moment we stopped the excuses and begin finding the ways to make things happen is the moment we live. Don't leave your dreams, LIVE IT! I guarantee that in your journey to unknown, you will always find people who will go with you and you will never be alone.
